NRA Awards 2023

We attended the National Recycling Awards 2023 yesterday. Our clients were nominated twice for this year’s awards, but as a group we were nominated an amazing six times. While we didn’t take home any trophies, we are pleased that our client was shortlisted and recognised for their achievements in waste management. A testament to the hard work put in by the clients and their Corporate Sustainability Managers.

Speaking about the awards, our Head of External Affairs, Dave Gudgeon said “We’re delighted for our client, having our partners efforts be recognised multiple times this year for various awards, shows the extraordinary contribution in the energy industry that they’ve achieved. Uniper have worked extremely hard with their on-site waste management, ensuring they’re using the best sustainable solutions for their used filters, and we believe that they do a fantastic job. I’d like to thank MRW Awards for hosting the evening, highlighting our industry agendas, and promoting sustainable, responsible, innovative business practices for the waste industry.”

Uniper showed that challenging work and ambitious environmental targets will be recognised. Our clients were nominated in two categories, Partnership Excellence and Recycling Excellence.

Uniper, Novati and Filter Clean UK have come together to refurbish and reuse ‘single-use’ air filters which were traditionally treated as general waste and landfilled or sent to energy recovery facilities. The air filters put back into use at Uniper power stations continue to operate with 98% efficiency and can be reprocessed 3-4 times before their efficiency is significantly degraded. This ground-breaking first for the UK, delivers both financial and environmental benefits and truly focuses on the circular economy. It can also be replicated for thousands of other UK businesses.

Congratulations to all the highly commended and winners on the night.
